I dunno, just trying to wrap my head around it because the Chromium monopoly argument is losing with Firefox's declining market share, which is happening for I don't know what reason, but it's still happening. If that did happen though, I could see someone like Brave or another player forking Chromium. I would love to see Chromium stripped from Google and become something similar to GNOME and other community-supported open source projects, where big companies support it but it's a community's project and not Google's to wield as it pleases (who's to say they don't shut Chromium's doors and go full on Chrome?). Hopes that a Chromium monopoly will not come are waning with the dominace of Chrome and the rise of Edgeįirefox no matter what will probably live forever in the open source world-SOMEONE will continue developmentįirefox basically has to make any changes and support stuff as Google dictates because thier market share is so small I agree that personally I do not want a Chromium monopoly, but here's my take: I think we need to rethink this argument.
